Watching yesterday’s intervention episode two thoughts occur to me: Beth Maitland’s Traci is the MVP and how much I have never cared for Jason Thompson in the role of Billy, which is surprising because I loved him so much as Dr. Patrick Drake on GH. I was noticing how much I am not caring for these storylines. Sigh.

I feel the same with Gina Tognoni as Phyllis.
Two very good actors—Tognoni and Thompson. Good chemistry. Yet, it doesn’t come off as believable given The Young and the Restless’ history and with these two individual characters—and their casting has always felt like miscasting. That they were names worth adding to the cast when it happened with Y&R.
Every time I watch them, it’s like some cynical dark cloud. (How are they supposedly in love?) There is no joy.October 2, 2018 at 5:31 pm #1202645335
The intervention scenes and subsequent board room scenes were well done. But I am just not enjoying the show right now. It’s all too dark and depressing. Where is the love, the friendship, the romance?
Sharon’s party was terrible. All it did was emphasize the shallow nature of many of the characters and the show’s lack of meaningful relationships. I like Sharon too and felt so bad for her. I think it was supposed to be cute or amusing, but it was neither. I did like the slo-mo bit with Sharon and Nick, but there was no payoff.
This may surprise some, but I am in favor of the new Rosales family on Y&R. It gives us some relief from the spoiled, nasty characters who dominate the show’s screen time.
DS0816 on Phyllis and Billy: “Every time I watch them, it’s like some cynical dark cloud. (How are they supposedly in love?) There is no joy.” I love that description!
There is no joy. And that observation extends to pretty much the entire show! I did not enjoy Mariah’s conversation with Sharon at the end of the show. Nope. Not one bit.October 3, 2018 at 4:09 pm #1202645889
I am certain the wedding will actually happen because I watched a video about the making of Sharon’s extremely expensive wedding dress. I am intrigued if Sharon and Nick will have a conversation before the wedding, or afterwards?
today’s episode, where Sharon learns more of the details about Nick and Sharon’s sexcapade, and then everyone gathers at the church but Sharon is (so far) a no-show was actually quite good. Still not loving the show but this was a pretty good episode.
It bugs me that they have Dina off canvas, mentioning her but never showing her. BRING BACK DINA! Bring back Marla Adams!October 4, 2018 at 4:53 pm #1202646438
I hate it when (on soaps) otherwise classy characters make a spectacle of themselves by calling out others at a public event. I guess it’s supposed to be “sensational,” but I hate it. Of course, one might argue that Days did this very thing at Hope and Rafe’s wedding, but that was different because I’m not invested in Hope and Rafe as a couple and because the bad behavior was on the part of Claire, whom I already disliked.
All I can say about today’s Y&R’s is that I was appalled. Talk about not giving the fans what they want! Well, this fan, at least. I think it’s safe to say Nick and Sharon will not be reuniting anytime soon given this fiasco.October 4, 2018 at 5:21 pm #1202646447

Unfortunately I was on the telephone so I saw Sharon clearly not marrying Nick, upset, telling something, but I had the volume off to hear my friend who was in need – what was Sharon saying? What happened once Sharon got to the wedding? If my friend hadn’t been in such need I would have asked if I could call him back (I was watching the 7 p.m. airing on PopTV).October 8, 2018 at 9:09 am #1202648505
Sharon Case was interviewed on this week’s Soap Opera Digest podcast, and of course discussed the recent events at the wedding. To robbalto’s point: hosts Stephanie and Mara asked Case about the awkward moment when Sharon is confronting Nick in front of everyone and Faith is crying in the pews behind them. “I guess I didn’t think about that!” she responded. It’s one of those funny things in soaps.October 9, 2018 at 9:03 am #1202649177
I can’t figure out what Ashley’s (eileen’s) exit story is quite going to be. Does anyone know how much longer she will be on the show? Storywise she is the winner (for now) at Jabot, she is sort of with Neil, Dina is nowhere to be found (but referred to as in another room) – just not sure what they are doing, and wondering if they even know!
I could see how Sharon, in the pain she was in during the moment, would forget that her children were present, esp. her young children. But yes, come to think of it, it is yucky ):
Why do I think it’s Reed who is sending the notes about knowing what they did? Anyone else it could be? I hope they don’t cheat and have J.T. still be alive (sound effect of me groaning loudly if that happens).
Beth Maitland continues to shine. I am so glad she has been on as much as she has over the past year! (: Traci is my favorite Abbott!!!! (:October 9, 2018 at 12:27 pm #1202649282
Groan – they are throwing Ashley (and Eileen) under the bus with her exit story ): I am not looking forward to this at all ):October 9, 2018 at 6:05 pm #1202649468
Yes, they are indeed throwing Ashley under the bus! The character has become unrecognizable. It must be challenging for Eileen Davidson to portray Ashley this way. She has played the character for 36 years. This is shaping up to be yet another disappointing exit.
I have no idea who is sending the notes. My first thought was Rey, but that seems like an odd move for a police officer. Of course there is the still the possibility that JT is alive. Aside from those options, I cannot think of anyone else.October 11, 2018 at 4:34 pm #1202650979
I haven’t seen Y&R in weeks. When I do tune in, I’m normally bored.
I knew that Eileen Davidson was leaving, but is the character of Ashley leaving, too or are they going to recast her?October 15, 2018 at 7:31 am #1202652862
It doesn’t sound like there are any plans to recast. There was that whole back and forth where Mal Young said that Ashley wouldn’t be on the show regularly but might still pop up for family events and such, but then Eileen Davidson clarified that, while she’s not closed off to the possibility of making an appearance if there’s a big event where Ashley needs to be there, she is really gone from the show, not on recurring, and fans should not expect to be seeing her around.October 15, 2018 at 5:15 pm #1202653255
Today’s episode was difficult to watch. The ending was especially awful (not to mention over-the-top). Through the years, Jack and Ashley were always close. Not it’s all been torn apart. Sad to see it end this way and for Ashley to depart on this note. What a terrible exit for such a stalwart character.
I think the person leaving the notes and blackmailing is Tessa. Somehow she caught on to the dirty deeds of the Fab Four. Given that she needs money, and that her odd story threads have not really fit, this twist would make for overall more coherent storytelling.October 15, 2018 at 6:58 pm #1202653372
Interesting theory about Tessa; mine is that it will be Reed.
The scenes where Ashley/Eileen gets thrown under the bus as her exit story was gruesome. I only watched for the four murderesses confab. I liked the tie vote with Victoria siding with Phyllis, and Nikki and Sharon voting on the same side.
